The intention was to design a modern medium density development
that was sympathetic to the existing building stock yet unashamedly
modern.
The houses have relatively small footprints, each being arranged
vertically around a stairwell.
The homes have access from the South over landscaped gardens
and pools to the front doors. The upper floors consist of
kitchen/dining and living room areas, each with a separate
lounge designed to capture all day sun and the views.
The materials are chosen for their permanence and lack of
maintenance include zinc, plastered block walls and anodised
aluminium joinery. Balustrades are frameless glass.
The form of the buildings is manipulated to comply with Council
'bulk and location' requirements, providing a solid back to
the South and the street while connecting with view and sun
to the North with decks off all levels.
